How a Bra Should Fit: Everything You Need to Know
Wanting a bra that fits just right is probably why you’re here, isn’t it? We all know the feeling of a perfect fitting bra – it feels like it’s barely there and so comfy. A well-fitting bra is the key to comfort and confidence for your customers, making your brand stand out. Whether you’re a start-up founder or an established entrepreneur, understanding the fundamentals of bra fit is essential. In this blog post, we’ll talk about how a bra should fit.
So, what makes a bra fit perfectly? It boils down to a few things. Basically, it needs to hug your breast, lifting it up and forward, away from your ribs and underarm. It should lie flat against your body, no wrinkles or bulges anywhere. Every part of the bra has to do its job to get that perfect fit. Let’s break down the essentials of a perfect fit:
- Cups: They should fully cover your customer’s breast, giving it a nice shape. The bottom part of the cup needs to hold their breast entirely. If the cups are too big, certainly their breasts won’t get the support they need and might sag. Too small, and they’ll feel squeezed, with bulges under or over the bra.
- Bridge: This is the part between your customer’s breasts. It should specifically sit flat against their chest, making sure the cups are in the right position to hold and support their breasts. If it’s too wide, their bra might stand away from their body, creating an odd shape. If it’s too narrow, their breasts might feel pinched.
- Band: Remember, the band is crucial for support. If it’s not wide enough, your customer’s shoulders surely take on too much weight, leading to pain and those dreaded strap marks. And if it’s too tight, it’s uncomfortable and can create bulges around the bra. Aim for snug but not suffocating – they should be able to fit two fingers under the band.
- Underwires: These sit under your customer’s breasts, matching their shape. They spread the weight of their breasts into the band. If they’re too small, they’ll dig in. Too big, and they’ll poke into their body. Ill-fitting wires undoubtedly make for a very long and uncomfortable day.
- Straps: They should sit comfortably on your customer’s shoulders, not too tight or too loose. They don’t truly support their breasts; they just keep everything in place. They shouldn’t slide or dig into their skin. Ideally, they should form a straight line from outside the apex of their breast to the midpoint of their shoulder, but some prefer them further out. As long as the band and cups are in the right place, it’s all good.
Remember, the goal is a bra that feels like it’s barely there, supporting your customer all day without any discomfort.
